Fujian woodcarving used precious timbers such as Fujian Longyan woodcarving and Chaozhou golden woodcarving, Zhejiang Dongyang woodcarving, and Wenzhou boxwood wood carving and called the four traditional Chinese woodcarvings. Fujian wood carvings were made from the carving techniques of classical furniture in Putian, Fujian Province, and were mainly carved in round; (that is, the overall three-dimensional shape. Yan Ming analyzed the reasons for the increase in the market price of wood carvings in Fujian in recent years. He believes that most of the reasons are due to the increase in the cost of raw materials and labor. For example, the current skilled shave master (that is, a master who sculpts and adorns faces specifically for woodcarvings) has paid a daily salary. 300~500 yuan. As a skillful art, its value has not yet been fully reflected. At present, the price of national masters (5 in total) is between tens of thousands of yuan and more than 100,000 yuan, while the prices of provincial masters (more than 10 digits) are tens of thousands of yuan, and some are only a few thousand yuan (prices are due to material, size, etc. , process level changes).

According to Fujian wood carving business revealed that the current market price of wood carvings in Dongyang, Zhejiang is relatively high, some businesses from Zhejiang procurement to Zhejiang after the local treatment, and then sold at a high price, earn the difference.

“From the point of view of collection, the use of valuable timber has enhanced the positioning of wood carvings in Fujian, and has also increased its collection value and market price accordingly.” Tan Weibin, director of the Guangdong Provincial Museum of Crafts and Fine Arts, held this Fujian Wood Carving Exhibition, believes that local Guangdong is contemporary The understanding of the collection of woodcarving art has yet to be improved. The rise of woodcarvings has a very "good" background: First, it is difficult to reproduce rare and precious raw materials; secondly, the creation of woodcarving display artworks is currently in its heyday, with the most comprehensive techniques and the most diverse subject matter. The biggest “impediment” of the market's rise is that contemporary woodcarvings have not been favored and have failed to enter the secondary auction market. Yan Ming believes that the old woodcarvings have not been passed down, but they are kept in museums. However, today's works of art are artifacts of the future. It is recommended that collectors collect masterpieces of the middle-aged masters, and insist on the principle of “more heavy work”.

The collection of preserved wood carvings and the temperature and humidity in Fujian and Guangdong are more suitable for the preservation of wood carvings. Different materials of wood carvings have different preservation time. In general, precious woods must be preserved before they are made into wood carvings. However, in the preservation process, in order to avoid “dangers” such as moth and damp, several key points must be remembered:

Wipe often with a dry soft cloth. Small things can be played in more ways, and a protective film can be formed on the surface during play.

Try to avoid the damage caused by the collision. Can be protected by glazing paint and waxing.

Do not let the sun shine directly on the surface.

The preservation environment should not be too dry, otherwise the wood carvings will be easily cracked. Place a small cup of clean water in the storage area.

Avoid cold and hot temperature changes. From the south to the north, it is necessary to do a good job of prevention, otherwise it will be easily cracked.
