"Clean" sheets are not necessarily "harmless"

Does it seem that the white sheets and mouth towels are really "spotless"? In the first half of this year, the Municipal Fiber Inspection Institute was commissioned by the Municipal Quality Supervision Bureau to conduct quality inspections on more than 40 batches of public textiles used by 27 hotels, hotels and other service industries in the city. The test results were worrying, and the pass rate was less than 20%. The reason for the failure is that the PH value exceeds the standard. The quality supervision department stated that from now until October 31, special law enforcement inspections for hotels and hotels' public textiles will be organized throughout the city to promote the implementation of national compulsory standards to protect consumers' health.

“Whether public textiles in hotels and hotels are really clean and hygienic, consumers can’t see them directly from the naked eye. At most, they can only smell odors,” said Chen Changjiang, director of the Public Textiles Supervision Office of the Municipal Fiber Inspection Institute. The special action carried out tests on formaldehyde content, PH value, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, color fastness and other safety indicators for more than 40 batches of 27 units. The products include bed sheets, duvet covers, towels, square towels and mouth. Public textiles such as cloth.

Chen Changjiang said that every time the action team went to a hotel, they opened any room and carefully inspected the seemingly white products to see their appearance, smell their taste, check whether they used black cotton, and then extract some supplies. The seals and packings are returned to the inspection office for further inspection. “We checked and found that the relevant person in charge of many hotels had no concept of the quality requirements of public textiles.” Chen Changjiang was very helpless.

The unqualified products are all over the standard, and the reason why the PH value exceeds the standard may be that the washing company washes the linen with low-cost inferior detergent in order to reduce the cost, or the rinsing of the linen water is not sufficient during the rinsing process. The lye remaining on the cloth after washing exceeds the standard. Chen Changjiang stressed that the main reason is that no acid was added during the washing process, and acid-base neutralization was carried out, which led to the pH value exceeding the standard. The normal PH value of human skin should be between 5.5 and 7.0. If the PH value of textiles close to human skin is too high or too low, it will damage the skin's immune system, cause irritation to the skin, cause itching, allergies and other symptoms.

Chen Changjiang analyzed that the results of such a worrying test were mainly due to the lack of understanding of the safety standards of public textiles by business units and the lack of clear regulations on relevant inspection and inspection methods. "Hotels with their own washing rooms should be self-tested from time to time, commissioned by the washing company to clean, but also irregular inspection. It is best to choose a washing company with a certain scale." Chen Changjiang added. At the same time, he reminded consumers that in the use of public textiles, it should check whether there is irritating odor or odor, pay attention to the fiber characteristics of the fabric, and take care of safety and health.
